Thompson, CT USA - Numa, a leading designer and manufacturer of down hole hammers and bits, has introduced the latest members of their Patriot® hammer line - The Patriot® 60W and Patriot® 60WQ. These new hammers were specifically designed for the rigorous demands of the water well drilling industry and to provide the ability to drill holes 6 to 8-1/2 inches (152 - 216 mm) in diameter. Numa offers two models of their 6-inch hammers to reduce investment costs by allowing drillers to use a variety of bits. The Patriot® 60W accepts the 360 bit shank while the Patriot® 60WQ accepts the QL6 bit shank. This flexibility allows customers to easily convert to Numa without having to switch over the bits they are currently using.

The Patriot® hammer is one of the fastest DTH hammers available in the market and, with its simplified design, is extremely easy to use and maintain. The overall design was engineered for the water well driller who requires high penetration rates in order to get their jobs done ahead of schedule. Both the 60W and 60WQ out-drill competitor hammers on the market today but the ultimate goal is to provide water well drillers with a complete combination of strength and speed. Key to fulfilling this objective is the compact design that allows for the transfer of drilling energy to the bit more quickly and efficiently. This, in turn, promotes faster drilling speeds and allows drillers to complete jobs more quickly and at a lower cost per foot.

The Patriot® 60W and 60WQ hammers have a simplified design that was accomplished by eliminating several internal components. With less parts than the competition, fewer items require maintenance resulting in reduced down time and increased drilling time. Numa engineers designed the hammer to attach the feed tube assembly directly to the backhead of the hammer. This promotes outstanding alignment of all hammer parts resulting in longer hammer life and improved overall performance.

Another key feature of the Patriot® 60W and 60WQ is the ability to handle difficult back pressure drilling conditions. When faced with high heads of water, both will continue drilling efficiently where most competitor hammers stop working. This is extremely important in many drilling situations where water is encountered.
