Numa is currently recruiting for Machine Operators to work in our manufacturing facility in the northeast corner of Connecticut. We have been in business over 39 years with many employees being with the company for 20 years+. You can find a home with Numa.

Reporting to the Factory Supervisor, the Machine Operator position is responsible for preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc. to produce metal products.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to,:

  • Set-up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts.
  • Lifts machined parts manually or using hoist, and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices, such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Smooths flat and contoured surfaces, using files, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools.
  • Cleans machines, holding devices and work area.
  • Checks lubricant, coolant, and oil levels in machine and reports issues to supervisor.
  • Enters production information into ERP system for tracking.
  • Maintains safety in work area.
  • Participates in safety /continuous improvement meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience as CNC operator preferred but not required.
  • Skill in precision measurement tools and metric system.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to operate fork truck.
  • Must understand and work in a safe manner, following all Governmental and company regulations and policies regarding safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable.
  • Good communication, math, and computer skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all pre-employment criteria including background check and drug test.

Works with and around greases, oils, coolants, and cleaning solutions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift or move parts with an approximate weight up to a maximum weight of 50 lbs. Work may require bending, stooping, kneeling, ladder climbing, and working in small cramped areas. Personal protective equipment is required and provided.

Work Environment:

The work environment is normally industrial manufacturing space. Work could be greasy, slippery, wet, and dusty. Sharp loud noises are possible. Able to drive a forklift. Potential physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
