Numa, the world’s leading drilling technology provider, will be exhibiting with American Sur at the 33rd PERUMIN Mining Convention taking place in Arequipa, Peru from September 18-22.
On display will be Numa hammers and bits specifically engineered for the mining industry. The mining product line boasts an impressive range of hammers and bits capable of drilling holes from 3 ½” to 20” (89 – 508 mm) in diameter. All provide the right combination of speed and life to excel against hard, abrasive, fractured and just plain nasty conditions.
Numa mining hammers have a simplified design that incorporates only eight (8) major parts. Included is a feed tube assembly that attaches directly to the backhead of the hammer to provide outstanding alignment of all hammer parts. Better alignment and less overall parts makes Numa mining hammers not only perform better but easier to maintain than competitors, which means more time drilling and reduced drilling cost.
Also on display will be Super Jaws® Overburden Bits that provide dependable performance and longevity for drilling dewatering holes through unconsolidated ground conditions of overburden, backfill or bedrock. Numa’s patented Super
Jaws produces unmatched penetration rates for simultaneously drilling and casing holes. With its unique wing design, Super Jaws retracts back into the guide body for extraction of all tooling while leaving the casing in place. There is no reverse rotation required, nor any expensive rings, saving drillers time and money in mining applications around the world.

ABOUT NUMA
Numa provides the world’s leading drilling technology with over 100 DTH Hammer and Bit products serving 11 different industries. Our products are capable of drilling vertical, horizontal, and reverse circulation holes from 3½ to 48 inches (89 – 1219 mm) in diameter and are used in 105+ countries. We have built our customer-centric reputation on providing the highest value in products, performance and personal service available in the rock drilling industry.
Numa, the world’s leading drilling technology provider, has announced an expansion of manufacturing capabilities at its US plant to keep up with growing demand for its DTH hammers and bits.
Over the past several years, Numa has heavily invested in its manufacturing capabilities to tackle the demands of building the world’s leading DTH equipment. The latest addition is a Doosan Puma 3100 which is a composite turning center that combines the functions of both a lathe and a machining center. By integrating the capabilities of multiple machines into one system, the turning center minimizes machining time and the number of machining operations. Complicated parts that previously required multiple machines and setups can now be completed by just one unit and one setup. The new equipment will improve productivity, precision, and ease of operation for the company and further improve its ability to manufacture quality products in a timely manner for its customers.
“The expansion of Numa’s manufacturing capabilities supports our vision for growth and puts us in the best position to build the world’s leading down hole hammers and bits,” said Ralph Leonard, President of Numa, “The new multi-tasking turning center offers higher productivity, greater accuracy, and enhanced user convenience which is instrumental to support the growth of our customers.”

Numa, the world’s leading drilling technology provider, announced the completion of an energy efficient LED lighting initiative. The retrofit of their Thompson, CT headquarters and manufacturing facility is an upgrade to the company’s entire lighting system, both inside and out. The advancement will substantially reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, and improves the working environment for its employees.
Numa worked with Greenleaf Energy Solutions to replace over 400 fluorescent bulbs and fixtures with high efficiency LED units. To further advance the savings, all office areas and meeting rooms were equipped with occupancy sensors. The sensors not only turn off lights when areas are unoccupied but also can control the amount of light to provide for an optimal working environment. The LED retrofit is estimated to save Numa over $18,000 in annual lighting costs.
“The decision to move forward with the LED retrofit was an easy one,” said Ralph Leonard, President of Numa, “We will realize a 40% reduction in light costs, meet strict industry lighting standards, and improve the appearance of our manufacturing and office facilities. The new lighting system dramatically brightens up our facility and further illuminates Numa’s world’s leading drilling technology.”

Numa, the world’s leading drilling technology provider, will be attending CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada March 7 – 11, 2017. Numa will be located in Central Hall 3-5 Booth C31610 with experienced staff on hand to meet with current and prospective customers and partners.
Numa will display a full range of DTH hammers and bits for drilling holes 3-1/2” to 48” (89 – 1219 mm) in diameter. Numa’s DTH products have proven to outdistance competitive hammers and bits in speed and longevity with each model designed for specific types of applications. This gives drillers the ultimate flexibility in product offering. A cutaway hammer will be on hand to provide attendees with the ability to see internal DTH hammer components and how it operates down the hole.
Also exhibited will be Numa’s Super Jaws® Overburden Bits. Super Jaws provides dependable performance and longevity for simultaneously drilling and casing holes in unconsolidated ground conditions of overburden, boulders, or bedrock. With its unique wing design, Super Jaws retracts back into the guide body when drilling is complete for extraction of all tooling while leaving the casing in place. There is no reverse rotation required, nor any expensive rings, saving drillers time and money. Super Jaws is capable of drilling hole sizes 5 ½” to 42” (139 – 1067 mm) in diameter.
Super Jaws is available in two versions. One version utilizes a drive shoe welded to the front of the casing. As the bit advances, the casing is advanced at the same rate due to the drive shoulder on the guide body contacting the drive shoe welded to the casing. The Super Jaws ND version allows the use of thick wall casing or thick wall threaded casing. The guide body has no drive shoulder and the casing is advanced via a casing hammer, duplex diverter, or dual rotary.
